Juan Carlos Lomonaco is Music Director of Yucatan Symphony Orchestra in Merida, Mexico, and founder and Music Conductor of the Ensamble Iberoamericano in Madrid. He graduated from The Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied conducting with Otto Werner Muller. He has also studied conducting with Charles Bruck at The Pierre Monteux School, as well as Enrique Diemecke and Marc David at the University of Montreal.
Since the age of 17 he has formed and conducted various music ensembles and at the age of 23 he made his debut with The National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, where he remained as Assistant Conductor for two years. Lomonaco has been Music Director of the Carlos Chavez Symphony Orchestra in Mexico City (2000-2007), Politechnic Symphony Orchestra (2008 - Mexico City), National Conservatory Symphony, Ollin Yoliztly Symphony (1998-2001), founder and conductor of The Mexico Phialdelphia Ensemble and Curtis Ensemble, and assistant Conductor at the Domaine Forget Academy of Music in 1994.
As guest conductor he has conducted the Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta in Italy, Vojvodina Symphony in Serbia, Polish Chamber Philharmonic - Spain, Salt Lake Symphony, Longy Symphony in Boston, Simon Bolivar Symphony of Venezuela, Lima Philharmonic, Ecuador Youth Philharmonic. And extensively in his country: National Symphony Orchestra, Mexico City Philharmonic, OFUNAM Philharmonic, Fine Arts Chamber, Fine Arts Opera Orchestra, Queretaro Philharmonic and Chamber, Guanajuato Symphony, Aguascalientes Symphony, Yucatan Symphony, Jalisco Philharmonic, Zacatecas Philharmonic, Coahuila Chamber, among others.
Maestro Lomonaco has recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, the Carlos Chavez Symphony, the Curtis Ensemble and chamber music from Mexican contemporary composers.
Juan Carlos Lomonaco gained The Presser Music Award in order to lead a tour to Mexico with the Curtis Ensemble and record a music CD. Besides, he received five distinguishing scholarships from the National Council of Culture and Arts.
